AUD 750 Million wasted on COVID PPE that was thrown out -Some evidence of an accounting blackhole that the Perrotet government may be trying to conceal with its non-health service related quarantine fees

Image
by Ganesh Sahathevan The ABC has reported: The NSW opposition has accused the state government of wasting more than three quarters of a billion dollars on PPE that had to be thrown out because it did not meet standards. The discarded equipment included more than $150 million of face masks. A spokesperson for NSW Health said the faulty equipment was sourced by a "whole of government" procurement group, led by NSW Police. The above may well be among the accounting blackholes that the Perrotet Government is trying conceal with funds from its quarantine fee charge, which appears to be in fact a penalty. Government funding for the College Of Law PLT where students are assessed on the quality of their reflection on their work experience , not the quality of their work experience

Image
by Ganesh Sahathevan  The above has been extracted from the latest College Of Law Ltd's annual report.  The substantial government funding is provided via the Commonwealth's FEE HELP facility.  The Practical Legal Training (PLT)  which the College runs, and which is a prerequisite for admission to practise  in NSW, has the imprimatur  of the Chief Justice NSW, Tom Bathurst, in his capacity as Chairman of the the NSW Legal Profession Admission Board.  College Academic Director Lewis Patrick has said that in assessing the work experience component of the PLT  "  the College is not assessing the quality of (the student's) work experience, but rather the quality of (the student's)  reflections  on that experience . The College's PLT course is now mostly on-line, and there are problems with delivery and infrastructure. Its FEE HELP cashflow is being utilised to finance its expansion overseas. NSW charging quarantined travellers fee for police & army guards, COVID testing, another reason why Queensland may be ignoring NSW's quarantine fee invoice -Queensland only charges fee for food and hotel accommodation

Image
by Ganesh Sahathevan  Former NSW Treasurer and current Premier Dominic Perrotet issued the Queensland Government an invoice for quarantining Queensland residents who had returned via Sydney Airport, which the Queensland Government has quite literally thrown in the bin (see story below). One of the problems with the Perrotet invoice might lay in the fact that NSW charges  quarantined travellers  a fee for police & army guards and COVID testing, while Queensland only charges a fee for food and hotel accommodation . Queensland provides travellers ordered into quarantine an invoice with details of the components of the quarantine fee (see excerpt below), while NSW will not.  In NSW quarantined travellers receive a demand for payment from the NSW State Debt Office, and requests for an itemised invoice are ignored, if not denied. The quarantine fee is effectively a penalty imposed on anyone ordered into quarantine.  TO BE READ WITH    Premier Dominic Perrotet, the former Treasurer The D
