Erdogan's anger toward Australia may have to do with the defiant support for Gulen: Governor designate Margaret Beazley's Gulen problem gets more complicated

PHOTOS: DPA, REUTERS Turkey's President Erdogan's anger towards Australia may be primarily motivated by the support his rival Fetullah Gulen receives from the highest levels of government,especially in NSW. As reported by SBS: Turkey's 'most-wanted terrorist' and his well-connected friends in Australia Gulen's friends in Australia include the Premier NSW, the AG NSW and the Governor designate, Margaret Beazley AO,and other senior members of the judiciary (see story below). This Comment  was circulated to a limited email group in 2017.The issues are today even more relevant given the attempt to justify a shift away from fighting jihadism, by claiming instead that the real threat is from "right wing white extremists". Doing so, the likes of Anne Aly and Greg Barton have argued that the real threat of terrorism  is from right wing extremist. That argument is also used to discredit policing ,defence and intelligence initiatives put in place after  9 - 11 .
