Sirul Azhar's Malaysian lawyer admits deceiving him into not speaking to media and family:Meanwhile Peter Dutton remains clueless....

Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin, a lawyer  who represents Sirul Azhar Umar, who is currently at Villawood and desperately fighting extradition to Malaysia where death by hanging awaits him for the murder of a Mongolian woman, has been reported instructing his client not to speak to media or anyone else,even his mother.He does so despite the fact that the  conviction has been tainted by political interference,and the public airing of the matter is likely to be the only means by which the parties responsible for Sirul's predicament might be brought to account.


Kamarul also said that Sirul has been adviced not to speak to the media as any statements made, by him or even his family, cannot be substantiated unless the latter says so himself, and says so under oath.
He added that even news of Sirul admitting to killing Altantuya, albeit under the orders of his superiors, remains unverified as the statement was not made under oath.
"Unless and until that statement is made under oath that statement is made by someone else. It could be mother, father... it could still be someone else."How can you determine that is what he said and how do you determine the context," he said.
The last line makes obvious that Kamarul's primary concern is his client's well-being but others who might well be implicated by  Sirul 's statements. It  is clear that Kamarul's main preoccupation is to ensure that he remains Sirul's only contact outside Villawood.

Australian authorities appear to have gone along with Kamarul's advice, and have restricted access to Sirul, despite Minister for Immigration Peter Dutton being warned that his  actions were putting SIrul in further danger.
Kamarul's admission will no doubt convince Dutton and SERCO who manage Villawood  that they should redouble their efforts ,and pretend that they have only acted in Sirul's best interest.

Strata managers' aversion to contact with tenants can leave strata managers exposed to personal liability

 by Ganesh Sahathevan      Advice for living in, or buying into, a strata community Strata managers are employed to manage strata schemes which are often home to renters as well as owners. However, in evasion of that which they are paid to do there are instances where strata managers have attempted  to evade their duties by refusing to  deal with tenants.   Even this writer can recall an instance where the strata manager warned that it was against the law for tenants to contact him directly.  The instances where strata managers have refused to deal with tenants occur when the issues raised concern fairly pedestrian maintenance issues, for example blocked plumbing and the like.
