In his story on Malaysia-Today dated Wednesday, June 22, 2005 and titled" Does a conspiracy to GET ANWAR really exist? ", Peter Kamaruddin(aka Raja Petra Kamaruddin) says :

" Also in 2003, a meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur in the Bangsar homeof a prominent Umno man closely linked to both Prime Minister AbdullahAhmad Badawi as well as Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak. Presentwere Malaysian as well as Australian journalists. The matter to bediscussed was: Get CIBT.""As the meeting progressed, it became clear that the target was notreally CIBT but Anwar Ibrahim. They wanted to 'expose' CIBT under theguise of 'accountability and transparency', but it was more so thatAnwar could be implicated in this so-called wrongdoing. On realising this, the Malaysian journalist backed out of the group. They thendecided to use Harakah instead, the official newspaper of the IslamicParty of Malaysia (PAS), as well as Jeff Ooi, who owned theScreenshots blog."

Peter Kamaruddin has said all of this in October 2003, on the FreeAnwar wesbite. (see story below).

There he names the "Malaysian journalist (who) backed out " as MGG Pillai. Then, as I will do again , I asked MGG Pillai and RPK to name names.

Both have refused. For my part (I am named in the story below as well as that above) I can say that all that has been written now, and was written before, are lies .

Essentially , MGG Pillai was not involved in the story presented byGinny Stein of SBS Dateline-and on which I worked as researcher-henever met with either of us to discuss the story; all he ever did wasto tell each us (in two separate telephone conversations) thatCommercial IBT was a legitimate operation-despite the facts that hadbeen gathered -and despite the story that he himself wrote in April 2003.

There was no meeting as described by MGG Pillai and RPK (in the storyof yesterday and of October 2003 ) and certainly I never attended anymeeting at which he was present. I have met this man only for mealsand coffee ,on the 3-4 ocassions that I have visited Malaysia since Ireturned to Australia in May 1997.

However, there is no need for anyone to believe me; for I challenge RPK, (and MGG Pillai) , to state :

a) the name of the UMNO man (or UMNO businessman,or UMNO linked businessman)

b)the address of his home or other premises

c) the identities of all those said to be present at the said meeting

d) the exact nature of the matters discussed-ie spare us the drivelabout conspiracies-tell us exactly what these meetings were about -ifyou say these meetings were about " getting CIBT"-why was CIBT chosen, and how was it to be gotten at. Further, how did " getting CIBT" have anything to do with "getting Anwar"

e) The identity of " John Wise" with email address investigator_editor1@yahoo.com; given that
RPK places so much trust in him. I already know that he is Adrian Ong Chee Beng, CEO of
Commercial IBT.
